ABOUT LEE CHONG WEI

Lee Chong Wei is a master with most badminton techniques. However, what makes him world champion is his effective and organised badminton footwork which provides him with extraordinary speed. His quick reflexes also makes him one of the best atheletes around.
It's because of his agility, he always takes the shuttle at the perfect time. For example, a slight mistake made by his opponent around the badminton net area will result in Lee doing a quick net kill.

Apart from his speed, he has very good body balance and it has been one of the attributes that contributed to his success at the world stage.
When you observe him during a game, you can see he can regain his balance and return to the center of the court VERY QUICKLY, right after executing a badminton jump smash.
Every time he dives to defend his opponent's smash, he can get back up and return to the centre of the court in an organised manner.
Lee Chong Wei also has a very good defence strategy against his opponent's strong smashes. Whenever he defends a powerful smash from his opponent, he aims for the shuttle to travel JUST ABOVE THE NET.
This will not only prevent his opponent from doing a second strong smash, his opponent will also have to work very hard to come to the front of the court and return the defended smash.

Does he have a weakness?

In terms of badminton techniques, he's good at most of the techniques. However, he lacks the consistency in achieving peak performance in every match.
This could be caused by psychological factors. The pressure was on him when he failed to win "major" tournaments. However, in 2010 he silenced his critics (mainly the media) by winning the All-England Championship. This would be a great psychological booster for him.
Lee has showed us the kind of achievements a badminton player can achieve in terms of agility and strategic defending.
